Hi. I'm booting a HD-install directly from 256MB CF.
Is it possible to mount a ramdisc and put the swap area there?
Now I got additional ram :) (384MB over all), but never use more than 128MB, so i hope to speed up my little PC with a swap area.
What must I do? How can I create a ramdisk and put the swap area there...
Thanks in advance

I don't know if a HD install on a CF card is the best solution. If you want a ramdisk you're better off with a frugal install and then boot with the toram option.

But if you like experimenting and want to create a loopback file that you later can format as swap, here's a tutorial:

I don't know a lot about the specifics of swapping, but it seems to me that putting swap in a ramdisk would be pointless.  The swap doesn't really improve performance (or even get much use) unless you are short on ram.  If you create a new ramdisk for swap, you'll simply use up your ram faster and require the swap more frequently.  It's a similar issue to that of a person wanting to try DSL embedded because Windows runs too slowly.
