Good Morning!

Here in Germany its time for sleep :;): 3:31 am.

I tryed to Install DSL via Frugal Grub Install and it work fine. I can boot now and DSL start.  But the X-Settings will not be saved!

Because he say the System isnt RW. If i take a look via mount i find out that the /cdrom is the only RO Device.

But i have no cdrom its just the Knoppix Image...

What can i Do? to enable the Read Write. I need it for some Config files.

Good Night

Jumpy

Your X settings and everthing in /home/dsl are saved once you perform your first backup. You need to specifiy the device you wish to use for such.

Oh i see. It was my fault to install at "hda1" and not on "hda2" like the advise. (The advise at the frugal grub install).

Now it install all the stuff at hda1 and he didn't made a device for the settings?

Sorry my english isn't so well i hope that i understood it right.
I will try to Install aigain with hda2 or make more partitions than one.

I have tryed the hard-disk-install but it use 230 - 240 mb? And thats not enough free space (i have 250) for me to install apt-get or ndiswrapper. I have try some diffrent methods. And there was much different problems like this read only, or after hd-install i can't mount my usb-stick.

Maby there is another easier way, like a slim hd-install?

Oh yes - i have some new inspirations now thats a lot.

Thank You!

frugal takes getting use to but it sounds like what you need if you have very little space. the extensions can be loaded at start up by putting them in a myDSL folder and it will auto load at start.
example: you want apt-get, so create a folder name it " myDSL " then download the dpkg.dsl and put it in that folder and it will load at start. i'm not sure about ndiswrapper is that a dsl? perhaps that can be saved using the backup/restore.
