Click on DSL control panel and use the backup button. You can backup to harddrive or USB. When you bootup I think DSL automatically looks for a backup on USB but you might have to change your grub or lilo to specify your backup HD partition. I can't tell how to do that but you can search this forum for your choice of bootloader. My advice is not the best and you can find better stuff searching the forum. Personally, I like persistant opt, home, and mydsl and it works good for my 64M RAM.
