Hi everybody,

I've just installed DSL on an old laptop, and I can't access to the modules, because the kernel intalled(2.4.31) differs from the kernel of the live-usb(2.4.26).

I've solved the problem by copying the 2.4.26 kernel in the boot directory of the installed DSL.

Is it a bug? can we have 2.4.31 on live-usb/livecd?

Thanks

Some older DSL versions used 2.4.31, like DSL v2.1b.  See the release notes for further info.  You could also install the same DSL release you have on your laptop.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure I was clear in the question.

I boot from the current DSL on a USB key but trough a floppydisk.
I install DSL from this same version, and when I reboot, I have some modules errors, just because it tries to find 2.31 modules, and there are only 2.26 modules.

The kernel of the live DSL is 2.26, but it installs 2.31 on the hd.

I assume you meant 2.4.31 and 2.4.26 respectively.

My guess of your post is that your boot from a boot floppy?
You should update that as well, since that could contain the compressed kernel.
