Hey all... I have my old rig up and running again.

Specifications are

Processor: 100 Mhz Pentium
Ram: 24 MB
HDD: 1.275 Gb
CD-ROM: Quad Speed

This rig was until today running windows 98 with some degree of sucess..

first i Burned a DSL live CD using my newer machine
Then i created a boot floppy using my newer machine

Then i began following the HDinstall guide

Well i get to the point where dsl-hdinstall has finished and i am suposed to run the command

sudo -u root mkliloboot
however i keep getting mkliloboot command not found

Which guide?

If you used the install scripts, it should automatically install the bootloader as well.

I had the same problem (missing the mklilloboot script).   The script is referenced in "Notes on Doing a DSL Install" referenced by the DSL WIKI article under HDD Install.

I got around the problem by choosing LILO when the HDD install script offered a choice of GRUB vs LILO.

All in all ... a minor problem.   This was my first Linux install on an old, moth-balled machine and I'm a Linux newbie.  I'm up and running and learning.

after a few lumps bumps and misinstalls... i got a win98 bootdisk re partitioned the harddrive with the dos fdisk command to a dos partition and got to the point where i had "Missing operating system" as the first message instead of "grub error 15" which was a good sign... from then on Install was a breeze... I just got it up and running.. let me tell you golf is addicting
