My dear friends help me please!

Problem:
DSL is dropping me to $ prompt after power failure to the system.
(I can't see graphics desktop)
If I type sudo reboot, then it reboots to graphics server

Details:
1. I am using ext3 for / partition
2. inserted mount /dev/hda2 /home in /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig
this is where read writable data and some executables lies.
(just seen that I have lost them completely)
3. commented torsmo, fluxter, in ~/.xinitrc disabled all icons from
visibility on desktop except one

trials:
after the system is up in grapics mode I have done this at # prompt
 mount -o ro,remount /
unplugged power supply to system. first time ok, but not 2nd time or next,
I am using firefox web browser( comes up automatically through ~/.xinitrc)
It also has trouble starting.

I can give more details if insufficient.

May Gods help us!
