I am wondering if there is a reasonably simple way to install DSL from a key/CD to a HD without the GUI. I would like to get DSL onto a Libretto 110ct by installing it to the drive in another laptop and then transplanting it. I don't know the specifics about how DSL handles hardware, if it reexamines your specs on each bootup or not, but I figured there would be less issues if I didn't have to worry about a graphical end.

In the end I'm trying to get get DSL working on the Libretto without using any goofy PCMCIA devices (because I don't have them), GUI or not, but I will be using all terminal based tools.

Without X? Sure, but that pretty much means doing a Debian-type (hard drive) install and removing what you don't want or remastering to exclude X and the X-related applications.

You can keep X and just run xsetup.sh when you move the drive between machines. That's pretty easy.

If you want a text-based menu install, you could boot with the cheatcode "install"
