Depends on the install. If you did a debian-type one, everything is permanent automatically..
For presetting devices, knoppix-autoconfig has a cheatcode to look for a file which lists modules to load. Don't remember it's name, but dive in and you'll find it. To find which modules are loaded after a device-detecting boot, type lsmod.
