I want to use an old Neoware Capio 620 (Geode 300 MHz, 64 MB RAM, 32 MB DOM, 180 GB USB HD) as a mini server (just SSH, SMB and UPNP).

I installed DOS and Loadlin on the DOM (Disk-On-Module; Flash Disk with IDE interface), and DSL 3.4.4 on the USB HDD (tried frugal and  other methods). Normal DSL runs like a charm! Great!

But... I currently have 2 major questions:
1.: How do I get write access on the Filesystem of the USB HD? Sda1 is by default mounted as /cdrom and RO. I haven't found any remount command...
2.: How can I save IP, SSH, SMB configs and additional server applications (UPNP server) and auto-load them in runlevel 2? I wont run X-Windows on this machine...

Thanks,
Michael

1. I think you can use the "frugal" boot option to mount the file system read-write. What I'd recommend, though, is to use two partitions: one for the dsl image and one for data. The fewer times you write to the root file system, particularly on flash, the longer your system will last.
2. I can't answer your second question specifically, as those configs are things I've never used persistently in DSL. However, you will most likely find your questions already answered on these forums. Do a search for backup and those topics and you'll probably find answers. It's most likely a matter of finding the specific files you need to keep and adding those files to your backup.
