I'm getting the following errors on startup:
I am able to run the programs once I login though.

That's normal. Linux boots through a series of initialization files kind of like collapsing dominoes.

You apparently mydsl-loaded these extensions. They're no longer in the same path. Or you did a hard drive install and you're experiencing one of the things that leads me to urge the developers to drop that because the whole thing with the extensions and the loading of them is designed for frugal/CD. You can ignore the warnings.

I loaded the programs by doing the following:

mydsl, mydsl extension browser and selected that programs I wanted and clicked download.
I'm able to login without any problems though.
Should I have installed the programs using the terminal instead?

You'd get the errors whichever way because /etc is persistent in a hard drive install (so everything with MyDSL is saved between boots) but gets freshly rewritten every time a frugal or USB install or live CD boots. The extensions work for hard drive installs but they really are oriented for frugal, USB, live CD.

If someone doesn't tell you which file to clear in the next day, I'll reboot my hard drive with  a traditional install and find it. Like I said, you can ignore the warnings.
