Hi all,

i'm trying to install dsl 0.8.2 on an usb key.
my usb key seems bootable since i ran syslinux on it and the PC tries to boot from it.

though dsl does not seem to recognize it, when i try to launch "install to USB drive" from the menu, a shell window appears and disappear instantly, unfortunately i can't read the output.

Furthermore, the usb key does not seem to be mounted.

i've tried fdisk /dev/sda1 to /dev/sda6 without success. How to know it the key is mounted? mountable?

how to launch the install script from a shell (to be able to read the output)?

thanks for your help.

Hi there,

open a root console and type "cd /ramdisk/home/dsl" then type "/usr/sbin/dsl-usbinstall". Make sure you have an internet connection up and running. That's how I got round the issue (doesn't mean it will be able to mount the fs when it boots from usb though :( )

well, it works a little bit better with a web connection (i did not realize i needed it...)

but the scripts stop when it tries to write to the usb key. (i've tried sda1).

Do you know how to find where my usb key is mounted?

I too was having problems with error reporting sector size problems. I then ran cfdisk, deleted the partition and created a win95 partition. Now at least the script runs....
