After I boot to the DSL 0.8.2 CD with "mydsl=..." boot command to install wvdial, wvdialconf can then find my laptop's internal modem (at /dev/ttyS1) and wvdial works fine. But on a HD install (or even a PoorMan's install) of DSL 0.8.2, no such luck. wvdialconf fails to find the modem. The dialog warns that the serial ports might be in use, or might not be configured. Whatever the reason, it looks like the boot process to CD sets up my hardware differently to the boot process to HD. I have seen similar odd things with Feather Linux's setup after a HD install. Does the bootloader make any difference - isolinux versus lilo? And I've noticed that minirt24.gz on the CD is a different filesize to the separate download version. Can anyone shed some light on this, and how to fix? Craig S
