Hello again, I'm trying to make a harddrive install (to an old laptop) without CD. After transferring the files to the laptop and starting with boot-disk it hangs at: Accessing DSL image at /dev/hda1...
If I look at the files from dos (W98 startdisk) they look precisely like the ones on the CD I have burned from ISO, and that works fine on another computer. What to do? How should the filesystem look prior to installation? Ie, after the extraction and transfer.
Anybody knows?

The important thing is that you should have this part duplicated:

C:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX

which is the big file from your CD disk.

The location and spelling must be EXACTLY correct.

Hi !
I tried to use dsl on a old laptop (16 mo ram) without cd.
I just want to add something for those who don't want to use any floppy :
copy the cd burned on a logical partion of 60 mo
make a 11 mo primary and active partition
boot from the floppy
when dsl is up, rawwrite the boot.img to the primary partition : and then you go ...
for example :
i made a primary partion 11mo (/dev/hda4)
once i was within dsl i cd to boot.img
and  $dd if=boot.img of=/dev/hda4
You may edit the syslinux.cfg (i have change keyboard and run level )
Reboot !
No more floppy :)
bye
