I am porbibly going to be positng all night about trying ot get this installed but anyway...
I worked a chuch garage sale in the computer department and we used a floppy with some commands on it to fdisk and format and stuff. Does anyone know how to make this disk that will allow me to format the hd and do fdisk and stuff using windows 98, i think it was a boot disk of some sort but i dont know. Thanks

I didn't really understand what you were asking for, but I'll give it a shot.  You'll first have to get a Win98 or earlier computer for this to work.  Open a DOS command window (or reboot into DOS) and do "format a: /s".  That command will create a boot disk with format and fdisk in there.  For some reason WinXP doesn't include format and fdisk in it's boot disks, so that won't work.  OR if you want you can use AnyWipe to fully format your HD and not put a file system or partition it for you.  There are also quite a few floppy distros out there speciallized in rescue/emergency floppies that can format and fdisk HDs for you.

goto http://www.bootdisk.com/

grab a 98 boot disk.  Create it.
It has the fdisk and format utilities you seek.

alright, i deleted the partition then created a new one, i booted up i said missing operating system, i restarted, pressed F2 to choose device to boot from and press 'F' to boot from the FDD, it says Missing Operating system, i go into DSL and it says missing file system... What next to do a HD install? My boot disk i got from bootdisk.com and ran the exe and when i go to the laptop (toshiba portege 3440CT) and try to boot from the floppy it still says Missing Operating System...

disregard last message, the booting was weird, i was trying to do it from the obvious select boot device, but i guess reading the directions printed in bold letters on the usb floppy helped lol... one step closer to becoming damn small
