EBDA is too big is usually a sign of an incorrectly configured bootloader.
You can fix this problem in a number of ways:
(1) Boot from livecd and edit your lilo or grub confuration file on the hard drive. Please make sure to re-run LILO after the changes are saved.
(2) Boot from a floppy distro like tom's root boot disk and attempt a similar repair.
(3) Insert a Windows 98 boot floppy with FDISK on it and type "fdisk /mbr". This will restore your Windows bootloading process and overwrite LILO or Grub on the MBR.
Also, if you have difficulty booting the livecd from your computer, you can download the boot floppy image from the DSL web site and also the DOS rawrite2 program and create a floppy boot disk and then use it to boot up the livecd.
Finally, search the forums for examples of a valid DSL LILO or grub config file.
For example, try searching for keyword
*lilo.conf
and search ALL FORUMS and FROM THE BEGINNING or NEWER
Hint: the DSL 0.8.x / 0.9.x kernel filename is called "linux24"
