Hi,

I'm very new to Linux and would like to try something abitious as a way to get acquatined with the OS.
Basically I eventually want to build a system to replace dvd player and vhs boxes I have.
Would myDSL be a good distro to use? I like the fact it can boot from CF card (as I'd want the system to take no longer 4-5 secs to be ready to use from power off)...I've seen a posting about using myDSL with MythTV I guess it may be technically possible...Has anyone got a haupage card working with DSL?

Before spending money on new bits of kit, I was going to install DSL onto an old p3 450 and see if I can get myth up and running. Do you guys think that's a good way to go?

If my assumption about fast booting from CF is incorrect, do you know of any other way to get a system running from cold (not suspend) super quick?

Finally, am I aiming a little high? I've a SAMS 24hr Redhat book, which I started a while ago (but got too busy to finish) and have done quite a few graphical installs of various distros (mosty FC variants)....can anyone recommend any other titles/resources for the MS Support beginner in linux???

What do ya'll think?
