hi, i have no previous experience with linux whatsoever, and decided to give it a shot. i want to install it on an old P3 450mhz, 256sdram, ati rage 128 pro comp, so i downloaded it and burned it to a cd. now what? lol...i'm used to windows with a floppy and cd and it doing everything for me  :p i want to install it onto the hd, but i don't know how to even get it to boot cd (its an old mobo), and even if i did get to that point what to do. thanks in advance  :D

Well... when you turn on your computer, does it say something like "Push F1 for setup", or something similar?

If so, push that button while it still says that, then look through the menus for "Boot Devices" or "Boot Sequence" and make it so that the CD-ROM drive is the first boot device. Then save your changes in that menu (should be ovbious), put in the CD and it should boot.

I just booted the cd, let it run & in a menu I saw the "install to hdd" option.  clicked that & away it went after asking which hard drive I wanted to install to and whether I wanted multiple user logins.  One note here:  WHenever I told it to use multiple user logins, the install was fubared.   That totally sucked :(.

I have no idea why that doesn't work but when you're asked that question, say no unless some brilliant soul here knows the proper answer to this. :)
