sure you can! just move the HD to the newer computer, (unplug the other, you never know) run dsl from cd, -> menu ->right click "install to hd" or "frugal install" and tell dsl where to install (i.e hda2 or hda3 etc). of course you must have prepared your HD with at least two primary partition, one for swap (for low ram systems, like older computers) that must be approx. the double of your older pc Ram size (i.e. 32 M ram -> 64 M swap). the rest of the HD, (at least 250 M for a full installation, I seem to remember..but check it out on dsl site) keep it for the install partition if you don't need more partitions. You can do this booting from cd with knoppix, instead of dsl, and use QTparted, a program available in that distro. Then you shutdown, turn on PC, insert dsl cd, boot with dsl and go on installing to hd. Then you put that HD back to the older pc, and it should work. This is what I did, and it worked for me.You may need to adjust your xevesa setting and re-run xsetup.sh, and reboot but at the end you'll be smiling!
just remember to say yes to the last question of the installation process, regarding mkliloboot. pay attention, it's important. good luck!
