ok burnt the 1.5 stable release on a cd, put it in my computer, and there was linux HURRAY!

i liked it, and now i want to install it....
i asked on IRC how to do this and they said:
1. click the terminal icon,
2. type sudo cfdisk
3. create/ swap partiton
4. reboot
5. initialize your swap and install

ok i dont quite get what swap means but i'll save that for later.

the main problem i cant complete step1, i cant find the damn icon.
i tried the desktop==> enhanced option, with no succes...

also my desktop looks a little cheap, just a little pattern, and i cant change the desktop picture....

intel p3 450mhz
intergrated sound and video (i can install a GeForce 2 card if nesceseary)
6 GB hd
64 mb memory

any help would be awsome!

If your display's color depth is set too low (IE: less than 256 colors or 8bit) then the icons will not appear.

But you can also bring up a terminal by Right-Click anywhere on the blank desktop and choose:

XShells -> Dark

from the menu

ok it works WHOOOHOOO :D

now my second question:
after my install, i get this screen where you can select the kind of DSL you want to run, with options DSL, DSL 800x600 DSL 1024x768, DSL 1280x1024

when i choose DSL, it prompts me what mouse i use and what screen resolution
i chose 1024*768 and 32 bit, and still no icons.... even at 1024*768 at 16 bit...

realy weird

the second weird thing is that i need to get trough the selection screen, everytime i startup the computer
