I have an old Digital HiNote UltraII laptop. 1.2Gb HD, 32Mb RAM. there is a clip on CD-ROM drive, but I can only get it work via Windows. I would like to get DSL installed on this laptop. I've read the instructions for installation without CD-ROM (http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/network-install.html). I have a D-Link DE-650 PCMCIA card, and my Router/Modem is a Netgear DG824M.
I have made a TomsRTBT disk, and can boot the laptop with this. I can set the IP as 192.168.0.8 etc as described, but cannot ping the router, other PCs on the LAN, or the wider network.
What should I try next? Is this a question best addressed elsewhere?
