I did an enhanced "dsl-hdinstall",because I have DSL-online connection. Everything went fine. It ask if I wanted to "mkliloboot"? I said yes. Lilo won't install because I'm missing linux24 in the boot folder. Where can I download that file to put it in there? Or do I need to do a standard install & worry about enhancing later? Thank you for your time & trouble.  :(

It is located on the original livecd or on the boot floppy disk.

It is located inside the livecd root directory, not inside the /knoppix/knoppix compressed filesystem.

So look inside /cdrom  for starters.

Thanks!! I knew that darn thing was somewhere, but couldn't remember where. I saved it to a storage drive, on my HD, that's accessible by both Win & linux. It took me a while to get lilo to install again. I had installed "PCLinuxOS" & couldn't overcome it's lilo with damnsmall's. So I did the 'fdisk /mbr'. Used my boot disk to get into dsl, but nothing would work. I think I've got everything working right now. All it takes is time & patience & when God passed out patience, I thought He said patents. I hadn't made anything lately so I didn't get in line. I know it's bad to work with computers with no patience, but we all do what we have to. Thanks again. :D

When using a pendrive, (USB-ZIP , no USB-HDD support on this machine)
to "Install to Harddrive" , I find I have to add the /boot directory
and contents from a LiveCD to the pendrive, or I see lilo errors
during the mkliloboot portion of the install..

Three of my laptops has no internal cdrom, only external thru a
IBM PCMCIA-IDE card, and an external floppy drive. (IBM 240's)
Celeron 300's/400's, and 192MB ram, they run DSL via fb800x600 nicely.

Booting from the bootfloppy-usb, and my pendrive,
works great for HDInstalls with this directory added..

I normally run them frugally using the "toram" option.
But when testing DSL in a HDInstalled environment,
this method of installing works best for me on these laptops.

I'm installing to a '98' model 'Dell Dimensions', on a partitioned 120G HD. I use my old 6.4G for vital storage. I also run an ethernet card for DSL internet & a CD/DVD-RW. Pretty good for an old Celeron 333Mhz & 192M ram. I'm a power user & have this thing tweaked to the hilt. I have to keep the processor cover & side cover off of it, so I can use a 12" personal fan to cool it. My friend told me if the NSA ever saw it? They would haul me & my comp to Washington in a heart beat. Just wait till I install the ethernet card in the old "Duracom Win3.11' & network it through the DSL internet port into this one. Then I can have fun. I can't install anything on it, because it only boots off "C drive" or "A drive", which is a 5 1/4" floppy. Thing is, on DSL I can use it to get around quietly. Whose going to notice a Win3.11 running 16m ram?? Wish me luck.  :p
