I have a device, the EZNET. It was an Internet Appliance running a version of Windows CE off a 16 meg. surface mount sandisk.

There was an unpopulated D.O.C. socket which I populate with a socket, and in the socket is a 48 meg DiskOnChip Module.

Since the D.S.L. ISO is under 48 megs. it would be great if I could merely copy that file onto the D.O.C. and install lilo and some other boot loader onto the 16 meg. sandisk.

I've looked around and it would seem that I will need 200 megs for a HD install, but if I could trick it to be a CD install I'd be golden with my 48 megs.

Any help or advice on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated.

Try searching the forum.

Choose the search button at the top of this page.

Try keyword "poor"  for poor-mans install help (CDROM-like install)
Or try keyword "frugal" for frugal install (automated CDROM-like install to hard disk)

then choose "ALL FORUMS"

and "search from the beginning"  all messages "or newer"

Good Luck.

I don't think you may succeed. The problem is that Windows CE can't run on the same processors that Windows or Linux can, as far as I know. There is a distribution called familiar linux that works on some of these devices, mainly in the Ipaq family. Also, the processors, either MIPS, StrongARM or whatever they called them, aren't that much powerful. Even the memory this device may have is simply not enough. I know this because a friend of mine had an Ipaq with linux, and he told me why I can't run OpenOffice.org on that little machine.
