I am interested to create a ISO that contain my customized DSL, may I know how can I recompress the root dir and put that into a bootable ISO image ?

Use MagicISO to create iso image from HDD. it is a good ISO creator.

I'm not sure this is still valid but it might be worth a shot: Fordi site
