Ok, I have following problem, I have one old laptop (Omnibook 4150B) with broken harddrive, one pcmcia-CF reader and one extra CF card.

So I decided to instal DSL on that hardware. Now the problem is that the laptop does not know how to boot from pcmcia-CF reader, but when DSL starts from CD, it is recognised as /dev/hde.

Now the second problem is that neather bootfloppy nor bootfloppy-usb images nows how to initialize pcmcia and the do the search.

So is it all lost cause, or is there something I can do?

Since no-one has any ideas, I gather it's lost cause. So back to the drawing board...

You can try an "expert" boot code and then manually load your pcmcia driver via a floppy disk.

You will first need to boot DSL and copy the appropriate driver module from your livecd over to a blank floppy disk.

Hi cbagger,

I also have an old PC with pcmcia /dev/hde. Would you advise us how to find the appropriate driver module from livecd and manually load?

Thanks in advance.
