Hello all,

I have been given a challenge.

Someone has given me an old toshibal libretto 50. It has a p75, 32mb RAM, 800mb hd (with win98 on). However it has no cdrom or usb, it has a floppy and nic, both through pcmcia. What would be the best method of installing DSL?

Any suggestions (or opinions) would be greatly appreciated

Thx in advance

Dave

3 ways come to mind.

(1) Make a Tom's Root Boot floppy (tomsrtbt) and use it to do a network install of DSL.

(2) Yank the hard drive and put it into another computer and use it to install DSL.  Laptop drive to IDE adapters are cheap (under $10).

(3) Do the floppy install method that involves using RAR or ZIP to move the 50MB of DSL over by spanning it on 1.44 MB floppy disks.

Somebody had mentioned to me about copying the files to the win partition and starting the install from there, not too sure how to do that tho.

Thx

Boot up Win98 on your target machine.

Download the DSL iso file.

Use ISOBUSTER or DAEMON TOOLS to extract the KNOPPIX file from the iso image file.  You need to place the file at location:

C:\KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX

Note the ALL UPPERCASE CHARACTERS

Then make a DSL boot floppy disk and use it:
