I'm installed on hard drive. Thinkpad 380ED, had lots of fun with the sound card, but found help here. I want to permanantly place the commands below (sound module settings) in the /opt/bootlocal.sh file which is read only. But I'm not logged on as root, can't find login/logout. For reference this is what I entered in bash to get my cs4236 sound chipset working. Apparently this is the OSS/Free kernel module. Sounds good to me, some people complain of noises, clicking, in posts.
modprobe sound dmabuf=1 modprobe cs4232 irq=5 io=0x534 dma=1 dma2=0 mpuio=0x330 mpuirq=9 modprobe opl3 io=0x388
But this gets forgotten after reboot. So how to login/logout as root? When I installed to hard drive I set up user and root passwords.Thanks.
Not urgent now as I've used "old school" vi editor and sudo command to edit file. Handy UNIX knowledge. Gotta love the simple things in life. Sound modules now loaded at boot.
I see.........use emelFM as super user is easier option. I think I've answered all my questions! So this operating system doesn't like you to operate as root user.
