Thanks runlevel5, Tried your suggestion. Didn't work, but I believe the problem is a poorly burned cd. I bought several linux os's from an listing on ebay. Most of them had some type of flaw. The problem with the dsl didn't show up until is was installed to hd. It was telling me that it had flaws on the hd boot up, but I didn't know what I was looking at until your response let me know something was wrong. The cd I have is for the 1.5 version. I'm going to get the latest version and give it another try. Thank you for your time and effort, Butch
