I know when I had Fedora installed I had to go to alsaconf to configure my sound card to get the sourround speakers to work

What is the command line to do the same on dsl

and also when I use su command it ask for a password what is the password since I am using the livecd and did not setup my own password

Go to the myDSL gui and find alsadebs in the system section.

Follow the instructions in the info file and you should be all set.

I think for the live cd to go into root mode instead of "su" you type "sudo su" (without quotes) and no password is required.
