Hello, When I use Xine with a DVD it is very choppy. video goes then stalls goes then stalls, sound does the same. My computer is rather modern so I know thats not it. Any ideas?

Try turning on DMA for your DVD drive.

You can do it by either booting with the

dsl dma

cheatcode, or you can activate it after bootup by typing:

sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc

from inside a terminal window.  In this example, your DVD drive is located at device /dev/hdc
