Ai, thanx guys..I got the sound working on my box

I just followed what was dicessed in this thread http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....;t=4615

I had alsa installed, but for some reason I coluldnt get alsaconf to run or whateva coz it sez it's not a command, anyways, I noticed that there's in /etc/modutils a file called paths or somethin like that. when you open the file it says that it contains additional paths in which modprobe should scan for mods but ther is no paths.

so I added a file which contains my soundcard config in /etc/moduitls I named it snd-als100 and then I ran update-modules. after that when I modprobed my soundcard it found it and stuff like that but the sound still didnt work. it simply loaded the als100 mod instead of soundblaster.

when I restarted alsa didn't detect anything so I was back to square one. I ran update module again and modprobed the card it worked, the coard was detected but still no sound so what I did was this: I added update-modules to my lilo.conf in the append line. after that I also added alsa(which was already there) and when I restarted the system, I updated my modules and alsa detected my card, when I ran xmms I had sound ya!

I don't know if this is the correct way to do it but it works so thanx for your help guys, you rock
