I've been using commandline unix for a few years at my university and have been trying to make the move to a GUI based version. However, since I've been been using it through my school, everything has been set up for me. I was able to get the frugal install working via the popular pdf that's floating around, but I can't get my network card functioning. The wiki said the D Link DWL-G650 should work out of the box, but I'm having no luck. I've looked in madwifi, but it's beyond me. Can anyone help? Thanks.

If you have the Windows drivers for that card, then you could try NDiswrapper. Put all of the drivers for the card in one directory, named "wireless" or something like that and then pick the *.inf file with the full path to it in the box that appears when you click on the NDiswrapper button in the DSL control panel.
