I have an SMC2435W CardBus wireless LAN card. Following the instructions on the ndiswrapper wiki, I downloaded the driver and burned it to a CD. I put the CD in my laptop and mounted the CD drive. At the shell, I entered ndiswrapper -i /cdrom/netadm11.inf. When I enter ndiswrapper -l, it says driver present but not hardware present. Also, the lights on the card do not come on. I also tried the driver on the CD that came with the network card, and I got the same thing.

I got mine working. Try using the noacpi boot option, as suggested by the ndiswrapper wiki.
