prism2 is a chipset for wireless communications, like a USB wireless dongle or wireless pcmcia card, etc. We are talking hardware, physical stuff you can touch.
Windows is not required to use it.
If you are making reference to the prism2 button on the DSL control panel, for example, that is a script that sets up your wireless parameters to allow network connectivity via the prism2 chipset contained in what ever piece of hardware you plugged in. Of course, you must input the needed info.
