hi, i tried all the init strings and others i had found relating to my specific modem, but no cake.
I tried as root aswell, but it disconnects after 40 seconds or so.
Now im back to my original Internal Intel modem, which specificies Linux compatiblity.
Having trouble finding the COM port and along with the modem came a cd with LINUX drivers on it.
LINUX INTEL DRIVERS
not sure which one to use and how to use it.
i did a
cat /proc/pci
and got this
-----------------------------
 Bus  0, device  15, function  0:
Communication controller: Intel Corp. 536EP Data Fax Modem (rev 0).
     IRQ 11.
     Master Capable.  Latency=32.
     Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xff400000 [0xff7fffff].
---------------------------

can someone tell me what come port to use?
or is there an other command?
