Hi, I'm trying to connect my DSL to DSL internet from my windows XP computer.  I have 2 network card on the XP computer and one is connected to a hub and the hub is connected to my linux computer.  I tried using "netcardconfig" and then select the DHCP broadcast.  However I get "Sending DHCP broadcast from deice eth0Operation failed. Failed. Hit return to exit."  So I use netcardconfig again and pick "NO" for DHCP.  Here is what I entered "192.168.1.2" for IP address "255.255.255.0" for Network Mask, "192.168.1.255" for Broadcast Address and "192.168.1.1" for Default gateway.  Then "204.127.202.4 12.242.17.50 216.148.227.68" for Nameserver(s).
Everything is then set to /etc/resolv.conf but I still don't have any internet connection when I try to use Dillo.  How can I get internet????????????

Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

BTW, is there any command to check if my network is up? and is there any command to check if my internet connection is active?  Thanks again.

to check if your network interface is up, try a ifconfig eth0.
to see wether your internet connection is working try to ping an external existing ip address.

have you enabled internet connection sharing on your windows xp box ?
