I wouldn't say that finding a better, easier, more appropriate solution is wimping out.

Also, good for you for bringing linux into the classroom. Children are our future. I bet/hope you aren't one of those typical teachers.

I believe this world of linux is about finding the easiest way to accomplish a task, thats why there are many ways to accomplish the same goal. The only wimps in my mind are those that never try.
