I've booted dsl.2.3 on my desktop computer, but unfortunately it was not able to detect my Corega LAPCIGT ethernet card. I did some research and probably it uses realtek's r8169 module. How can I load this module after DSL starts ? and how can I make it permanent ?

thanks

I also have a similar problem. I have an Asus P5B mobo which has onboard realtek 8169 (maybe 8168 as its PCIe) gigabit lan.

Is there any way I can get the drivers for this onto the USB drive I made? Is there a repository of premade DSL drivers or do I need to go rebuilding the kernel myself? Not done that for knoppix before...

Cheers,

Tom...

I also have a similar issue.  This is my output from lspci in a different os (SLAX)

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX (rev 02)

Does anyone know what the issue could be?  I know it's not being recognized in DSL.  How could i fix it?  It seems like I might need to do something with the kernel if I understand the posts above me.

If we were using the 2.6 kernel would this be most likely fixed?

as a side note, i think it might recognize the drivers for my wireless card...kinda funny to have a wireless card that works and a wired one that doesn't...:p

You could test load it by using insmod r8169
Then configure your network using netcardconfig

If it isn't in DSL, you'll probably have to compile the driver first... (see gcc*.dsl)

Permanence can be done several ways, see backup/restore, mkdmydsl, remastering, etc.
