I am new to Linux, especially the DamnSmall type, and often need to refer to the web for information on this and that. However, I have not been able to get my USB wireless network device to function properly. This makes my endeavors all the more difficult, because I have to load windows, grab as much information as I can, and try again in Linux. What follows is some relevant information about the target system hardware and operating environments.

Gateway Solo 2500 (Laptop)
Celeron 333mhz CPU
96MB RAM
(2) USB 1.1 Port

D-Link DWL-G122 (USB 2.0 Wireless-G NIC)
Hardware vB1
Firmware v2.02
Part No. BWLG122NA.B1
FCC ID: KA2DWLG122B1

Windows Server 2003 SP1
NIC works perfectly

DamnSmallLinux is another story. NDIS wrapper doesn't seem to do the job.

Perhaps I could be directed to a resource describing the specifics of wireless networking setup in DSL.

rt2500 will work with ndiswrapper with the default kernel in DSL.
If you wish to recompile the kernel (without smp support), you can use the native driver.

There's several threads that may help you on this.

I have been able to install the related .inf file using NDISwrapper (via command line). However, I have not been able to get any further. Through a little (unchecked) fiddling, I got the Link indicator LED to glow steadily.

I don't know what to do after installing the .inf file.

Following directions posted elsewhere in the Networking section, I have completed network configuration for the device in question. Thank you for your help.

Next Problem:
When the wireless NIC is running, attempting to reboot or shutdown causes the system to halt prematurely. What powerdown options do I have to remedy this?
