Can anyone tell me how to get the MAC address of my network card without using iwconfig as this seems to crash my laptop.

I recently added MAC filtering to my router, the laptop connected  fine before.

Thanks in advance for any help

Typically the MAC address is printed on the label of pcmcia card. This is done just the purpose you are describing.
Perhaps yours is worn off.

You're right of course, the MAC code is on the card. I should have looked before posting.
For anyone else reading this-on a D Link card it's called a 'Node ID'.

Many thanks again
