Hey guys, I'm new here. First of all, I want to thank and congratulate the people involved in the DSL project. Did you know that your the first linux distro in nearly a dozen that worked flawlessly for my old PC? Amazing! Please keep up the good work.

But now, I'm thinking about adding a wireless network card to it. Which one do you recommend?

I've checked the wiki and the sticky thread here, but couldn't find any models that are being sold today in, say, Best Buy.

I know. I know. I'm a n00b. So, which ones will work best with little or no configuration?

Those with prism 2.0 chipsets seem to be the ones that everyone favors since they work out of the box.
I think others have also used the madwifi extension to use Atheros based chipsets.

Not sure about others, but if some don't have available/working native drivers, ndiswrapper is an alternate choice (but native is always better).

However, I am no expert on wifi topics, so I hope you don't base your judgement on just mine :P

So, if I can find a wireless card based on the prism 2.0 chipset, it should work right out of the box? Because, right of the box is exactly what I am looking for.

Any popular (and easy to find) brands that use that chipset? I realize that the answer is more complicated than what I am asking, but again, I thank you guys for your patience on this.

i'm using an AT&T plug&share card i bought on ebay. methinks i paid $10. works great, no special config needed.

using ndiswrapper and the files from linuxant, the US Robotics USR5410 card works fine
USR5410 Driver files

Not managed to get my 3Com 3CRSHWP196 working yet...
