I successfully logged onto my dialup internet server from my Fujutsu notebook 790Tx's modem using a live DSL 3.3 CD, but Firefox and other internet protocols were unable to recognize internet addresses, only ip numbers. During the dialup I got two suspicious messages, "Jul 16 22:40:02 box local2.warn pppd[1353]: Unsupported protocol 0x8207 received" and "Jul 16 22:40:02 box local2.err pppd[1353]: Cannot determine ethernet address for proxy ARP". I don't know if these messages are related to the problem. The same dialup server worked properly when tested from a desktop PC using a KNOPPIX live CD (which required more RAM than was available on the laptop). Any suggestions?
