Can't configure an orinoco gold card to remember my ssid and key on boot.

DSL on the other hand, v4.0 has net setup, several different config options. Which do you choose? What if you choose the wrong one?

DSL is great if it works.

I'm not a linux expert but this isn't my first rodeo either.

Amazing!

Apps Folder -> DSLpanel -> Iwconfig

Fill out the GUI, wep key requires format of 99:99:99:...

iwconfig script is in ~/ (home) folder with icon for you to click.

You do, have to do a backup for anything to persist.

Orinoco Gold is the standard on which I created Iwconfig and is the one that I reguarly use and test with

I honestly can't think of anything that I could do to make it any easier.

BTW: Fluxbuntu is not 50MB. But perhaps a much larger distro will suit you better.

I'm using a pendrive install, my first attempt with that. Not being familiar with the orinoco gold card, and fumbling around with the various net setup utilities made a mess of my setup. Could just be the thinkpad too. On a toshiba I was playing with before, dhcp was automatic.

Installing ubuntu is not an option, it's taking forever. DSL will install in just a few minutes. If I can reinstall and get a persistent network connection I promise to stop snivelling.

With a fresh pendrive install and an access point reboot, the iwconfig utility in the DSLpanel returns "Connection failed" error.

Any hints on what to troubleshoot?

Last line of dmesg is eth0: orinoco_set_multicast_list() call when hw_unavailable
