Sri, eagle_eye ,
I have several boxes here with realtek 8139 network cards in them.
They all work fine for me, and are autodetected successfully.

Do you have "another" card in your box that could be conflicting?

Have you tried disabling "plug & pray" in your bios, and letting
your bios determine irq/int ?

The 8139 shares resources, so I don't see a conflict unless
you have another device that won't share..

I only have one NIC in the box and that is the realtek 8139. when i get home i would disable the plug & play to see if that would help. getting a little frustrated with this. i have 7 more hours before i get home.

Here is a copy of my " lsmod " command ..
You can see my 8139too listed as my nic card ..

I never any troubles with it ..
Have you used it in another os reccently, just to make sure it works?
Does it show up in your lsmod ?

Ke4nt1, thanks for your help. i did disable plug & play, wouldn't have thought that would affect anything, since slackware and redhart was running fine.
once again, thanks.
