Ahhh at long last, I determined why my Ndiswrapper modules wouldn't load. For some reason, they cannot allocate enough RAM after the X server loads. Perhaps it's a problem with my 32MB ram laptop.
In any case, if they won't work after X loads, it's as simple as logging in as root and hitting ctrl-C when the "starting X server" message comes up, then modprobe ndiswrapper, pick your essid with iwconfig or leave default of "any", pump -i wlan0 and you should be up and running.
Unfortunately I am YET to find free webhosting that can be used with one of the two basic DSL browsers, and it is my only net enabled machine at the time. If anyone wants the modules, post and I will email them to you, maybe someone can post them for all? There are two .deb packages, utils and modules, you need to use dpkg to install them, so non-hdinstallers might be totally out of luck.
I've only tested them with a HD-install, and it's a little bit of an odd one - the modules depend on the debian/unstable perl package for some reason, to install properly. You have to edit your /etc/apt/sources.list and apt-get install it first. You may need some other unstable packages as well, ie pump and iwconfig *might* need an upgrade... I went around randomly upgrading packages until all the things I wanted to work worked (not all wireless related) and I can't remember exactly what I did
I trust anyone who wants ndiswrapper knows how to use it, so I won't post directions unless someone asks for them.
