okay, here's the problem:
DSL doesn't detect my internal ethernet or wireless cards on my dell notebook.

also, i've used linux for about 1 hour at this point...

anyone wanna take a hurt chick under their wing for a momment?

okay, here's what i'm running:
Dell Inspiron 5100 (pentium 4 2.66GHz, 512MB ram)
Ethernet: Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller
Wireless: Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI card

neither of the devices are detectible to DSL. Is there/how do i configue DSL to detect them? (i have the drivers available)

FYI,

There is a problem with DSL autodetection and the Broadcom NIC card.

I believe that the solution was to open an xterm and type:

sudo su
modprobe b44.o
netcardconfig
exit

You can search these forums or search google for KNOPPIX and b44.0 for more help.

I don't know much about the Dell wireless card but my guess is that you may be able to get it to work using you Microsoft Windows driver files and a program called "ndiswrapper". Try searching the forums for "ndiswrapper". One person posted a link to a pretty good help guide on anthoer web site.
