Hello!

Here's my scenario:  I have one each 2.4 and 5 GHz WAPs connected to my router and two cards for my laptops, an Atheros A/B (no G) and a Prism2 B.

No connectivity issues using my hd installed 0.8.4.  I have the 5GHz AB card talking to the A WAP as ath0 and the 2.4GHz card talking to the B WAP as eth0.  I have the TCP/IP settings in etc/network/interfaces and can swap cards (and therefore, bands) on the fly using ifup and ifdown.

What I want to do is switch bands on the fly with the AB card.  I think I need to create an ath1 in interfaces that mirror the ifconfig settings of ath0 but I don't know where iwconfig stashes its data.  Where might that be?

And if I do edit the files created by ifconfig (etc/network/interfaces) and iwconfig (?/?/?), will ifup and ifdown for ath0 and ath1 allow me to switch bands on the fly?

While the Prism .11b card is a very good card, I like my dual bander.  And it'll save wear and tear on these old PC card slots.

Eventually, my stragegy is to use .11b outside the router (WAN) and have .11a inside on the LAN.

Thanks!!
