Let me first explain a little what's going on here at my house.  I have a cable connection that splits the internet to 4 different computers, 2 of which use the wireless capability of the router, my computer is one of those.  All in all, there are 5 working computers in the house, 2 of which are mine and in my room.  The second computer is the "Linux test" computer (has 3 different hard drives in it).

The issue is that the other computer doesn't have an internet connection since it's so far from the router, I don't have any extra wireless connectors, and moving the computer isn't an option.  My qauestion is, is there anyway to share the internet connection from the Windows computer to the DSL computer?  I do have a hub, which may or may not help.  I've tried setting windows to "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" but I get an error message that says this computer isn't 192.168.0.1 (resevered for the grounded router).  I called a buddy of mine and he said Windows is having problems because there can't be 2 gateways/routers on the network.  Do any of you guys know what I can do to get this to work?  Is it even possible?

That's probably true about the two routers.
I don't have a lot (well, any) experience setting up networks.
I had Suscom install a cable modem on this machine yesterday, and just downloaded DSL 0.9.2 using Windows XP, and burned it to a CD. I am using the
syslinux version. Now, I am online, posting this with DSL, using Firefox.
All of my dsl and knoppix remasters, originals, etc. connect to the web right off
using this Suscom cable modem. No configuration, all is automatic.
I will later get into the router problem, as I have other machines that I want to
share thjs connection. I noted that the download speed in Wiindows was about 380 KPS, compared to my 5 KPS using dialup.
Now, I tried to use one of my dsl remasters to download the new 0.9.2 ISO, but
found that I could not get the /dev/hdb2 Windows XP partition mounted read and write. So, even though I downloaded the 49 mb .iso using DSL 0.6.2 (remastered), I could not get it transferred to the Windows partition so I could use the CD Now software to burn the CD. I tried using a USB stick, and that would not work either. If I format the USB stick using Windows XP, then DSL cannot write to it either, apparently. So, all of the work was done in XP.
---
Having used dialup for years, I cannot get over the speed of a cable modem.
The DSL .iso was downloaded in only a few minutes, and I have a cd burned
and running now, all in less that 15 minutes.
---
Did think I would jump into this topic, to stir up some interest, as the network problem is one we all must face, if we are to use more than one machine on the
cable modem signal. My provider, Suscom, says I can have 4.
---
One of the reasons I want to use DSL, over Windows, is the virus/firewall issues that I have with XP. That is a lot of trouble, and a big time waster.
DSL is so much more efficient, especially if you just want to browse the web using Firefox.
---
One problem with Dell computers is that the modems and soundcards are n ot
getting detected with Knoppix or DSL, I think they do it on purpose.
:D
