hi,
I want to run DSL on a ASUS P5GD1 Mainboard which features an on-board Gigabit-NIC based on a chipset by Marvell. A Linux driver named sk98lin is available in DSL 1.0.1 for this chipset.
But after booting DSL, the driver is not loaded. A "modprobe sk98lin" gives a message like "device not found". If I do "cat /proc/pci", the NIC shows up as "Galileo Ltd. Ethernet Adapter".
I found out that Galileo is the former name of Marvell. And there are some people out there, who have had the same problems. One possible solution was to update the pci.ids file to reflect the up-to-date pci vendor information.
My question is: Could it be possible, that an updated "pci.ids" will fix the problem? If so, is it possible to include an updated version of the file in upcoming DSL distributions?
Regards, Andreas
