jimbo -

You must not see or read real well. You have two people that have nearly FOUR THOUSAND posts between them in this forum. One gave you detailed instructions on searching and the other even gave you the EXACT search criteria to use to locate your answer. You only had to copy/paste it into the search bar!!!! Looks to me like the guys have been more than helpful. They deserve your respect, not your childish rants.

I personally am writing screenshot step by step howto's for beginners you can find right here in the forums. I have one on Printing and the MyDSL system. Would a 'linux snob' do that?

Truth is, we gave you the same advise I would give my own kids when looking for an answer to a problem.

Bottom line here is that you did not approach this the correct way. People attempted to help you but you refused to see the forest for the trees.

I have to say I am amazed at how many people perceive this arrogance in Linux. They give the impression that the Windows developers sit around with an open line to the users to be at their beck and call. If truth be known, if they asked basic questions in a Windows forum they would probably be told to go search the Microsoft Knowledgebase.

Hi there,

I am a little nervous about adding to this post but trust my question will be well received.

I also have a problem with a Broadcom 440 NIC not being recognised. I have (to the best I can) tried the suggestions in this thread and others, specially the suggestion to:

sudo su
modprobe b44

But I get the following error:

Both the LEDs on the NIC are solid on.

I am not sure if it is significant but during the startup process an error about not being able to modprobe "block-major-2" flashes past.

Any help greatly appreciated.
