Hi

I've been searching, but can't find the answer... How do you make a DSL HDinstalled computer to join an existing domain on a local network?

Thanks in advance

Can I point out that 'domain' is one of those overloaded words (like 'network' and 'port') that has many meanings. I think you'll get more focussed advice if you frame the question more tightly.

Is this a DNS Domain?

An NFS Domain?

A Microsoft Windows Domain?

Or something else?

I'm going to assume that you mean a windows workgroup as in domain. YOu need to install Samba from the repository and configure it. The package includes samba server for sharing files and linneighbourhood for browsing them. Please be more specific.

Sorry for not giving all the clues. The domain is a Windows domain, and I've already downloaded the samba extension.

I can browse the LinNeighborhood, and what I need to do now is to make the names of the DSL machines visible from the domain. Let's say I have DSL01, DSL02, etc... I want to have remote access to this machines by name, instead of by IP address. Something like dsl01.domain.com.
